Jon Kingsley is a consulting engineer, creative, developer advocate, and actor living in Manchester, UK 🐝 by way of a great many places 🌎.

He is currently ✨ looking for his next adventure✨ in security engineering, developer relations/developer communities, or data protection and compliance. Jon regularly attends hackathons worldwide as an MLH Coach, and produces theatre Off West End and Off-Broadway.

Jon’s various shenanigans have taken him to speaking at events like
Twilio SIGNAL, and DevOpsDays TLV, appeared in Time Magazine, broadcasted across the sound waves on the Tech: Off Topic podcast, or BBC Radio 4, and exist in the Arctic World Archive in Svalbard.

Jon is a multi-talented creative, combining his career as a software and electrical engineer with a passion for the arts.

Jon's journey is marked by a unique blend of experiences spanning various domains. Beginning as an electrical and industrial engineer with a focus on digital archiving and planetscale infrastructure architecture, Jon later discovered his passion for the arts, transitioning into the world of acting and theatre production.

Along the way, he gained invaluable insights from roles in startups, financial services, and government, as well as speaking globally on various security-related research topics. He regularly consults on physical and digital security and engineering culture, and is a regular attendee of BSides conferences around the UK.

Jon's commitment to the arts led him to undertake rigorous training with the National Youth Theatre's Playing Up company, while simultaneously achieving his first commercial producing credit at Southwark Playhouse. He is now training under Frantic Assembly for physical theatre, and pursuing a varied focus between performance and technical theatre.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Jon's life is colored by an array of international interests. In his leisure time, Jon indulges in a spectrum of activities, including flying light aircraft, fencing, competitive lockpicking, caving, skiing, and nurturing his love for music through regular recording and mastering sessions in his well-equipped home studio.
